Long story short: I love working with people and data! In particular, I'm interested in modeling and analyzing complex phenomena.

Skills
Programming Languages
- I started programming in 2008 with C / C++ and multiple robotics projects.
- Later, I used Python for
Finite-Element modeling of a soft robot
in my MSc thesis.
Since then, Python has been my go-to language. - I've also been very comfortable with MATLAB for 10+ years / 50+ toolboxes.
I recently developed an open-source toolbox in MATLAB during my PhD. - I have extensive experience working with large databases using SQL and DAX in analytics tools and spreadsheets.
- In the meantime, I tried Pascal, PLC and Assembly languages for different course projects.
- For text processing, typesetting, and even quick visualization of raw data, I'm an avid TeX user!
- And finally, I designed this website using HTML and CSS.
Data & Analytics Tools
- Hands-on experience querying and analyzing large datasets using SQL in Google BigQuery and other relational database systems.
- Building interactive dashboards and self-service analytics with Looker Studio, Microsoft Power BI, and Tableau.
- Working with data models and measures using DAX and star-schema style modeling for reporting and decision support.
- Comfortable cleaning, transforming, and joining complex datasets in Pandas, NumPy, and spreadsheet tools (e.g. Google Sheets, MS Excel).
- Experience structuring analytics workflows end-to-end: from raw data exploration and feature engineering to creating reproducible analysis notebooks and clear stakeholder-facing visual summaries.
Visualization
- I often use tikz or Matplotlib libraries as my go-to data visualization tools.
- I'm familiar with Tableau, Google Sheets, MS Excel, and MS Power BI.
- One of my passions is graphical design! I regularly use Adobe products such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effect, and InDesign for personal and professional projects.
Languages
- My mother tongue is the Iraqi dialect of Arabic.
- I was born and raised in Iran and am a native Persian / Farsi speaker.
- I am fluent in English with 5+ years of professional working experience.
- I tried learning the Japanese alphabets during my research visit.
I'm still casually learning new Kanjis and practicing with children's books! - I've been learning Dutch / Nederlands since 2021. I can easily understand spoken Dutch and regularly read Dutch books.
So these days I'm mainly asking people to "spreek Nederlands met mij!"
